Privacy Policy
Your information deserves a clear explanation.
This policy explains how Steady Ballast handles the information you provide while using the site and its planning tools.

What we collect
When you create an account, the application stores the account details used for sign-in, including your email address and any name you provide.
If you use Steady Ballast’s planning tools, the application stores the details you choose to enter so your plan is available when you return. Depending on the tool, this can include job-loss timing, bills, savings, income, insurance and unemployment progress, deadlines, job-search notes, resume text, and other planning details.
If you send feedback through the footer form, the form collects your name, email address, and message.
Why we use it
We use account and planning information to provide sign-in, save and display your plan, and support the features you choose to use. We use feedback details to receive your message and, when appropriate, reply to it.
Steady Ballast is an organizational tool for sorting practical next steps after job loss. It does not provide legal, financial, insurance, tax, benefits, or employment advice. Consider the appropriate qualified professional or agency for advice about your situation.
Email and feedback
The application uses your account email for sign-in-related messages, such as password-reset instructions. The footer feedback form sends the name, email address, and message you enter to Steady Ballast’s platform notification service through a signed server request. That lets the business receive the message and reply to the email address you supplied.
Please do not include information in feedback that is unnecessary for us to understand your request.
Browser storage and analytics
Before you sign in, an unfinished triage draft can be saved in your browser so you can continue it on the same device. You can clear that draft through your browser’s site-data controls.
When PostHog is configured for the site, it records page views and site interaction events using cookies and local browser storage. The application also records limited sign-up and pricing events. We use those signals to understand and improve the site. Planning responses and footer feedback are sent through their own application flows, not explicitly included in the application’s analytics events.
How information is processed
Steady Ballast uses application providers to run the site, support account authentication, store saved application data, deliver feedback and password-reset notifications, and—when configured—provide analytics. These providers process information needed to perform those functions.
The application also contains links to a separate checkout experience. If you choose to use checkout, its provider handles that transaction under its own terms and privacy information.
Security and retention
The application uses account authentication and checks that saved planning records belong to the signed-in person before allowing access or changes. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please use care when deciding what to enter.
There is no fixed retention schedule stated in the application. You can update saved planning information in the app and can delete a saved layoff event and its related planning records from account settings where that option is available. Browser-only drafts remain until you clear them. For help with account information or a privacy request, use the feedback form in the site footer and include enough detail for us to respond safely.
Policy status and updates
This page is informational policy copy based on the application’s current behavior and is subject to owner and legal review. We may update it as the service changes and will revise the date shown here.
